We called it Casa de Respiro as a nod to rest, renewal, and slower living—fittingly, it sits on Calle Salut, or “Health Street.” More than just a rental, it is thoughtfully hosted by the owners, a young family who live just below and care deeply about making every guest’s stay warm, comfortable, and memorable.

Casa de Respiro is a fully renovated Mediterranean home in Altea Old Town with 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms (all on one floor), and a finished attic with a pullout sofa, making it ideal for families, couples, or small groups. Designed for comfort it includes air conditioning, extra large water heater, premium appliances, washer/dryer, quality linens, and exceptional beds.
What sets it apart is the rare combination of high-end renovation, historic charm, and an unbeatable location just a short walk from both the beach and Plaza de la Iglesia, placing guests in the heart of one of the most beautiful corners of the Costa Blanca.
Meet Your Hosts
Casa de Respiro is hosted by us, Sean and Emily — the owners of the home, the property managers, and your hosts — and we live just downstairs in a completely independent unit. We’re two psychologists who left the U.S. in search of a slower, more grounded way of living, and creating this space has become one of the most fun and meaningful parts of that adventure.
After years of traveling and staying in more than 100 short-term rentals around the world, we started noticing the same things over and over: uncomfortable mattresses, cheap linens, generic decor, poor communication, and homes that felt more like rental units than places anyone actually loved. We wanted to do the opposite. Casa de Respiro is our chance to keep perfecting all the little things that used to drive us crazy as guests — from truly comfortable beds and high-quality linens, to thoughtful decor that feels warm and elevated without going overboard on the obvious “beach house” clichés.
We’re constantly refining the experience and updating our guest book to make the stay feel personal for different kinds of travelers — whether you’re a young family looking for ease and comfort, an adventure-seeker wanting the best local tips, or a couple hoping for a slower, more peaceful escape. We try to fill the home with details we would genuinely appreciate ourselves: locally sourced soaps and candles, coffee from our favorite nearby spots, fresh bread when we can, and seasonal fruit to welcome you in.
Because we live on-site, care for the property ourselves, and genuinely enjoy hosting, this isn’t a hands-off investment property for us. It’s a home we care deeply about, and we get real energy from helping guests have a memorable, comfortable, and personal experience here.
